467,785. Directive wireless signalling. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE. Oct. 19, 1936, No. 28429. Convention date, Oct. 19, 1935. [Class 40 (v)] A directional receiving system comprises three or more vertical frame aerials R1 .. R4, Fig. 3, arranged on a circle, and coupled to a radio-goniometer G. The frames are mounted to rotate simultaneously with their planes parallel, the search coil D of the radiogoniometer also rotating with the frames and being so orientated to them that the E.M.F. induced therein is free from " night effect " when the plane of the frames is parallel to the incoming signal. Each of the frames R may be replaced by a pair of fixed crossed frames, and a radio-goniometer, all coupled to a centre radiogoniometer. To sharpen the critical bearing- point an additional frame may be arranged in the centre of the circle, whilst for " sense " determination an open aerial may be fixed in an eccentric position. Fig. 5 shows set of three frame-aerials mounted on an aeroplane so as to be free from " night error." Specifications 452,290 and 463,052 are referred to.
