Abstract

505,352. Valve generating circuits. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE. Dec. 23, 1938, No. 37526. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] Two blocking oscillators, or multi-vibrators, which are arranged to operate at different sub-multiples of a control frequency are interconnected so that impulses at a frequency equal to the greatest common sub-multiple are produced across a common output' impedance. The essential parts of the circuits of two blocking oscillators are indicated in Fig. 6. As shown, the two valves are pentodes, although a single valve with electrodes as indicated in Fig. 9, could be used, the screens of the valves being used as the oscillator anodes and the control, and suppressor grids being cross connected. The oscillators are arranged to oscillate at different sub-multiples of the main frequency. With this arrangement an impulse is produced across the common anode impedance 10, Fig. 6, only when the two oscillators are in step. For example, if the synchronizing frequency is S and the two circuits oscillate at S/n and S/m respectively, the frequency of the pulses across 10 is S/n Î m . The conducting periods of the oscillators is kept short to prevent intermediate pulses due to overlap. Synchronizing pulses may be applied across an impedance 6 in the grid lead as indicated in Fig. 3, or across 6<1> in the cathode lead as shown in Fig. 4.
