Abstract
504,892. Collapsable boats. WERNER, G. Sept. 26, 1938, No. 27968. [Class 113 (ii)] The frame of a collapsable boat, consists of flexible strips 1 and 2 running both lengthwise and widthwise of the boat and connected together at their intersection. This frame is covered with a fabric cover 6, and a deck cover 5, divided at the centre line. This central division 11 is provided with a lacing cord 8, and when this is tightened the deck edges are drawn towards each other and bending the transverse strips 2 into con- . cave form. To collapse the boat the cord 8 is slackened, and the boat frame can then be rolled up as shown in Fig. 9. In a modification, the frame and cover is replaced by a sheet of metal dished to the desired curvature, and sufficiently flexible either to be rolled up or pulled by the deeking into boat form.
