637,085. Strengthening edges of sheet material. LESAVOY, I. L. July 8, 1946, No. 20350. [Class 42 (i)] [Also in Group XIV] A sheet of moulded, pressed or rolled material of plastics or the like comprises a body portion having at least one thickened lateral edge extending along its entire length, and a number of thickened transverse portions dividing the sheet into sections and forming reinforcing strips, certain of them having an indenture running the length of the strips and forming a separation line whereat the sheet may be divided into peripherally reinforced separate sections. The sheet 15, Fig. 1, has one or both of its edges thickened, as at 16, 17, and transverse ribs 19 are provided. Holes 25 having thickened surrounds which may extend partly into the thickened edge portions 16, 17 may be provided near the latter. Certain of the transverse ribs 19 are in contiguous pairs, which may be separated by slitting to provide sections having all the edges reinforced. Such sections may be held together by a clamp 29, which is placed over two edge ribs 20a, 21a, Fig. 11. Alternatively, as in Fig. 8, some of the ribs 35, 36 may be separated by a space 39 and each provided with a series of holes 37, 38 which may be brought into register and laced together as when the intermediate portion 39 is wrapped round a tubular frame.
