504,610. Sewing - machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.) March 15, 1938, No. 2162/39. Divided out of 503,365. [Class 112] Relates primarily to the lubricating system described in Specification 503,365; the arrangement of the machine base and oil reservoir is claimed. Means for knee control of the preaser-bar, as described in the above Specification, are also described and claimed ; these comprise a knee-pad 165 fixed to a rock-shaft 152 which is carried in bearing lugs 150, 151 depending from the oil reservoir 25 and has an arm 156 engaging a push-rod 157 passing up into the reservoir to lift the presser-bar through a lever 159 pivoted to the machine frame, a link 163, and a lever 164 pivoted to the machine head. The rod 157 passes through a bushing extending above the oil level in the reservoir 25 and is provided with a cap 157<1> to prevent splashed oil from leaking along it.
