[Class 144 (ii)] [Also in Group V] A cushion tyre a is vulcanized to metal foundation bands b<1>, b<2> arranged at the midportion only of the tyre-base leaving the edge-portions of the latter, which may be formed with grooves e<1>, e<2>, to seat directly on the wheel-rim i so that the tyre may be fitted without requiring a press. The base corners of the tyre may be reinforced by inextensible cores g<1>, g<2>. The bands b<1>, b<2> are connected by a split ring c on which the mould-cores d<1> ... d<5> may be assembled and secured by means of set-screws f<1>- f<9>.
