Abstract

504,176. Photographic emulsions. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak Co.) Aug. 20, 1937, No. 22831. Addition to 471,366. [Class 98 (ii)] In the method of producing a rapid photographic printing-out element according to the parent Specification, in the absence of sodium nitrite, there is added to the emulsion at any stage in the preparation thereof, a substantially colourless photographically inert non-metallic compound containing the group NR2 and either an OH group or a second NH2 group (other than an o- or p-aminophenol), or of a salt of such compound formed with an organic or inorganic acid. Compounds referred to are semicarbazide, hydroxylamine, hydrazine, m-aminophenol, and m-phenylenediamine, and their hydrochlorides and sulphates. A solution of halides for use in preparing the emulsion comprises potassium bromide, sodium chloride and potassium iodide. According to the Provisional Specification the emulsion may be developed after exposure.
