Abstract

503,812. Metal door frames. HOPE & SONS, Ltd., H., and BISHOP, B. B. Jan. 21, 1938, No. 2024. 20 (iii)] The jambs a of a metal door frame are held at the correct distance apart by one or more tie-bars d, the ends of which engage in pairs of aligned holes c in the jambs and which arc held against movement by detachable means arranged between these holes. The tie-bars of the construction shown have notches e which are engaged by tongues f projecting from the jambs. The tongues are bent back when the tie-bars are to be removed. The tie-bars are rectangular in cross-section and the holes are of corresponding shape and are arranged adjacent the lower ends of the jambs. In a modification, a separate sheetmetal clip engaging a notch or groove in the bar is provided between the holes c of each jamb to hold the bar against movement.
