Abstract
503,281. Making bearing - races. ROULEMENTS A BILLES MINIATURES SOC. ANON. April 13, 1938, No. 11377. Convention date, Sept. 4, 1937. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Rolling.-The races of ball and roller bearings are machined and finished as required by balls or rollers, like those of the complete bearing, which are rolled and pressed into the races with the cooperation of a pair of abutment surfaces shown inclined to each other on the rings 3 and 4. In the Figure, a race cone 1 is mounted and rotated by a shaft 2 which is pressed axially to force the cone against balls 6 held in guide rings 3, 4 whereby an annular race groove 7 is formed and polished thereon. A stop against which the shaft 2 will abut, determines the depth of the groove to be rolled in. In other forms the race may be stationary. Ejector pins may be provided to force the race out of its holder.
