[Class 41] A bipolar electrode comprises an anode plate, a cathode plate, and an intermediate main plate 1, the anode and cathode plates 2 being provided with ribs 3 or bosses, disposed opposite one another and metallically interconnected at these parts by welding. The plates may be of iron and the cathode plate may be nickeled after the electrode is assembled.
