Abstract

502,312. Mixing-valves. BEAUREGARD, M. M. A. C. DE. June 16, 1938, No. 17961. Convention date, June 17, 1937. [Class 135] A thermostatically-controlled mixing-valve has a rotary cylindrical valve member rotatably mounted on a tubular seating member having an internal transverse partition intermediate its ends and connected at its ends to the two supply conduits. In the form shown the tubular seat 1 is secured by a grub screw in bores in the casing, the joints being made fluid-tight by packings 12 compressed by members 7<1> 7<2> which form the connecting means for the supply conduits. Each of the members 7<1>, 7<2> is provided with a seat for a non-return loose-ball valve 14 held in place by a loop 15. Strainers 13 are inserted in the part 1 on each side of the central partition. The central partition is formed with passages connecting the two sides of the partition with ports on the surface of the tube where they are controlled by a rotary cylindrical valve having passages leading to an annular groove 4<1>. In a modification, the discharge ports are formed in the tubular seat on either side of the central partition. The valve is actuated by a bi-metallic spiral 18, the centre of which is secured to a boss 24 rotatably mounted on an adjusting spindle 17 and provided with a finger 26 engaging projections 27 on the valve member. The outer end of the spiral is fixed to an arm 23 on the spindle which has a manipulating handle 9 formed with a pointer 91.
