Abstract

502,288. Looms. SOC. L. SEGARD & FILS. March 18, 1938, No. 8478. Convention date, March 18, 1937. [Classes 142 (i), 142 (ii), and 142 (iii)] A small portable loom comprising a framework N and supports P has heddles H and a comb C into which the warp threads can easily be inserted. The heddles comprise U-shaped metal strips H having holes h, h<1> adapted to be threaded by metal rods I. The comb comprises metal strips C entering vertical grooves or saw cuts c in a part b of a lower wooden frame B their bent ends entering a horizontal groove c<1> whilst their upper ends enter a groove a in a frame A. A part b<1> covers and is glued to the part b, and the frame A is held in position by milled nuts g engaging the threaded parts of supporting arms D having bent ends d. When threading the healds and comb, the frame A is removed from the latter which is laid horizontally on the framework the parts d entering notches at d<1>, whilst rods I are inserted through the upper holes h in the heddles and are inserted in notches in the framework, two groups, H<1>, H, of heddles being formed. The warp thread extending from the roller R to the cloth roller Q is lowered into the first heddle of the group H<1> and into the first space of the comb, the second thread is lowered into the first heddle of the group H<2> and so on. Rods I are now inserted in the upper holes h and are suspended from arms J on a rod L which is rocked by a control lever O to form the shed, the rods having been withdrawn from the lower holes h<1>. The frame A is reinstated on the comb, which is then brought into working position wherein it is supported like a stilt with its bent ends entering holes in the supports P.
