[Class 70] [Also in Groups VIII, X, and XV] An adhesive cement comprises potassium or sodium silicate, lithopone (replaceable by zinc oxide or titanium white), magnesium carbonate, calcium carbonate, precipitated silica, talc, potassium carbonate and hydrochloric acid. Where resiliency is required rubber latex may be added. Transparent or translucent glass to be used for protecting or decorating walls, furniture, &c. may be coated with the cement which can be given any colour or combination of colours. The cement may be applied by spraying and may represent fabrics, the graining of wood or stone or metallic effects, and may be manipulated to produce imitation marble or granite, or mottled, stippled, stardust or similar decorative finishes. The cement may be used in situ or in the factory manufacture of glass-faced tiles, panels, etc.; also, it may be used to attach two plies of glass together. In an example 10 parts of potassium silicate, 1 of lithopone and 0À2 of magnesium carbonate are mixed together, the mixture is allowed to stand for 24 hours, and a mixture of 15 parts calcium carbonate, 1 precipitated silica, and 1 talc is added, followed by the addition of a mixture of 10 parts potassium silicate, 1 part potassium carbonate, hydrochloric acid and water.
