501,724. Vehicle luggage - holders and frames. PLAXTON, F. W. Oct. 17, 1938, No. 30034. [Class 103 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXI] A luggage compartment at the rear of a road vehicle is formed by terminating the two main longitudinal frame members 1 and 2 a distance forward of the rear end of the vehicle body and bridging the rear ends of the members by a rigid transverse member 4 extending laterally beyond the longitudinal chassis frame members and having rigidly fixed to its ends a pair of rearwardly directed side frame members 5, whereby a substantially rectangular rigid frame is provided at the rear end of the chassis, affording space for a luggage compartment nearly the full width of the vehicle body. The floor of the luggage compartment is supported by members 7, 8, and 11, of which the last may serve also to brace the transverse member 4.
