Abstract
533,740. Ambulances ; vans. READING, A. J. and EVANS, S. D. Nov. 20, 1939, No. 30388. [Class 108 (i)] An ambulance or goods vehicle is constructed from an automobile of the fixed head type by substituting for that part of the body of the automobile that extends rearwardly of the front compartment, a body suitable as an ambulance or for carrying goods. The ambulance shown is constructed by removing that part of the automobile body shown by the dot and dash lines and securing the substituted body 8 to the roof part 1 of the front compartment of the automobile and to the chassis. The longitudinal roof bars 2 of the roof part 1 are connected by the usual transverse bar 4 and to reinforce this roof part hardwood blocks 5 are connected between the bars 2 and the cantrails 3. The body 8 is bolted to the bars 4. The gap between the door pillars 13 and the body 8 is closed by a strip of sheet metal 14. Shelves for receiving stretchers are arranged at the sides within the body 8.
