Abstract
501,384. Engine valve gear. BRITISH HARTFORD-FAIRMONT SYNDICATE, Ltd. (Denelsbeck, D.) March 30, 1938, No. 9707. [Class 122 (ii)] [Also in Group XVI] In stencilling-apparatus employing a reciprocatable screen stencil, the stencil is reciprocated by means of an air engine, the operation of which is controlled by a valve actuated by a treadle or like device. The stencil is carried by a slide' connected to the piston-rod 52 of a compressed air engine comprising a cylinder 50, the ends of which are connected by pipes 55 to an air tank 57, the reciprocating movement of the piston being effected by decreasing the pressure at the ends of the cylinder alternately by operating a control valve 64. This comprises a ported rotor which is rotated intermittently by pawl - and - ratchet mechanism actuated by depressing a treadle, whereby the ends of the cylinder are put alternately into communication with exhaust ports 75.
