[Classes 6 (ii) and 6 (iii)] In a mowing-machine of the type in which a cutter covered by a casing rotates about a substantially vertical axis, the casing having supporting means at its front and rear, the supporting means are coupled together mechanically so as to be simultaneously adjusted relatively to the casing by a common regulating device. The internal combustion or electric motor 13 is accommodated in a recess 12 of the casing 10 which has parallel vertical sides 40, 41, extending into a semicircular front. The shaft 14 is approximately vertical and carries a holder 15 for steel disc cutters 19, 20, which is formed with impeller blades 17, 18 to create an upward current of air to carry the cut grass through the casing to a grass box 21. The casing is supported at its front end upon a pair of wheels 23 mounted in a U- shaped member 24 of which the sides are pivoted on lugs 26 projecting from the casing. The rear part of the casing is supported by a roller 27 mounted in levers 29 which are secured by pivots 30 to the casing and are coupled at their forward ends by a pin-and-slot connection to the rear ends of the arms of the U-shaped member 24. A hand operated screw 32 threaded through a lug on the front of the casing and engaging the cross-piece of the member 24 adjusts the front wheels and the rear roller simultaneously. A transverse brush 37 is fixed to the rear of the machine : the brush is pivoted at one end and its other end provided with a slot through which a stud passes so that the brush may be clamped in a tilted position.
