Abstract
501,099. p-Hydroxyphenyl-isopropylmethylamines. KNOLL AKT. - GES. CHEMISCHE FABRIKEN. March 23, 1938, No. 8947. Convention date, April 17, 1937. [Class 2 (iii)] Optically - active # - (p - - hydroxyphenyl-1)-isopropylmethylamines are prepared by heating the correspondingly active p-methoxy compounds with strong mineral acids. The products possess therapeutic properties. Examples describe the treatment of the d- and l-starting materials, obtained by resolving the racemic base with d-tartaric acid, with concentrated hydrobromic and hydrochloric acid respectively, whereby the d- and l-products are formed by splitting of the methoxy into the hydroxy group. U.S.A. Specification 2,015,579 is referred to.
