501,068. Vehicle fittings for loading. KULHANEK, H., and FISHER, G. L. Aug. 26, 1937, No'. 23444. [Class 78 (iv)] The moving floor of a vehicle comprises a layer of rubber or other flexible material resting on transverse supports carried by two parallel roller chains. In the form shown a pair of endless chains 1 are mounted on sprockets 3 driven from the engine or by hand by means not shown and supported between the sprockets on light rails 4, 5. The transverse supports are tubes 8 plugged at the ends and secured to the chains by screws 10. The rubber sheet 13 covers both the tubes 8 and the chains, and is fastened at one end to the movable wall 7 which in turn is connected to the chains. The other end is fastened to the chains through the medium of the springs 15 and tension-adjusting members 16, 17. Projections 18 carrying flexible rubber strips 19 prevent material escaping at the sides of the rubber sheet. Light inter mediate chains parallel to the chains 1 may form additional supports for the transverse members 8 when necessary. Driving the chains causes the member 7 to push the load off the vehicle ; the rubber strip passing to the underside of the sprockets during the process. Many modifications in detail are described, including the omission of the member 7 and the making of the rubber sheet endless or to roll up on a roller, and various methods of securing the rubber sheet to the chains.
