Abstract

189,671. Shellard, I. F. Dec. 24, 1921. Sand &c. distributors.-An endless-chain mechanism attachable to a road vehicle for distributing sand or the like upon roads &c., comprises brackets 3 supporting a shaft 4 with pinions 11 over which, and over similar pinions 12 at the other end of a frame 6, runs a pair of endless chains 14 carrying slats 15. The frame 6 may be lifted by a winch 17, and is dropped upon the load of sand &c. in the cart. A handlever 37 is then pushed forwards so as to put the wheel 33 into contact with the road vehicle wheel 42, the contact being maintained by a spring 39 on the chain 40. The wheel 33 and a coaxial pinion 34, together with an endless chain 35 and pinions 30, 31, 26, drive the endless chains 14 so as to unload the vehicle. The wheel 33 and its connections may be duplicated at the other side of the vehicle.
