Abstract
500,674. Aminobenzene-sulphonamide derivatives. CHINOIN GYOGYSZER ES VEGYESZETI TERMEKEK GYARA R.T. (DR. KERESZTY & DR. WOLF). Feb. 10, 1938, No. 4233. Convention date, Feb. 13, 1937. [Class 2 (iii)] p-Aminobenzene-sulphonamide and its nuclear. derivatives are converted into water-soluble compounds by treatment with an alkali metal formaldehyde-sulphoxylate in the presence of sodium hydroxide. The reaction is preferably effected with one molecular proportion of sodium hydroxide at a temperature of 60‹ C., after which the cooled product is acidified with hydrochloric acid and the precipitate converted into a salt by dissolution in a caustic alkali. An example is given. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also describes the treatment with alkali metal formaldehyde-sulphoxylate in the mole. cular proportions of at least two of: the latter to one of the sulphonamide and in the absence of sodium hydroxide. The products then coritain two formaldehyde-sulphoxylate residues in the molecule. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 470,462.
