Abstract

500,262. Multiply dryer - felts. HINDLE, T., and LORD, S. Aug. 5, 1937, No. 21580. [Class 142 (iv)] Dryer-felts for paper-making machines &c. have a lower ply or plies woven from cotton or wool &c. and a surface ply woven wholly or partly from glass or glass containing threads. Glass is converted into small diameter continuous or short filaments, the former being twisted together to form a pliable thread and the latter carded and spun into a thread, a number of these being twisted to form a pliable thread. Threads formed of vegetable, animal or mineral fibres may be used with the glass threads in the surface layer or composite yarns &c. formed of glass filaments and vegetable and animal fibres may be used. According to the Provisional Specification, the dryer-felt may be woven entirely from glass filaments or may contain wire.
