[Class 144 (ii)] [Also in Group I] A non-skid chain for use with road vehicles comprises a chain 10 for passing round the inner side of the wheel rim, one end of which is connected to a plate 11 coupling the ends of three chains 12.. 14. The other ends of the chains are secured toa plate 15 having a tensioning device comprising a lever 26 adapted to be passed through apertures of the chain 10, turned towards the plate to effect the tension, and locked by a device 20. The chain 13 is made shorter than the chains 12, 14, or may be replaced by a band.
