Abstract
Alloys for high and low expanding elements of bimetallic strips comprise respectively iron with 17-20 per cent of nickel and cobalt (a maximum of 0,10 per cent of cobalt being present), 6-15 per cent of chromium and 0,9-1 per cent of manganese, and with 36-42 per cent of nickel and cobalt (a maximum of 0,4 per cent of cobalt being present), 5-9,5 per cent of chromium and up to 0,5 per cent of manganese; up to 0,15 per cent of each of carbon and silicon, and up to 0,02 per cent of each of sulphur and phosphorus being present in each case. The cobalt content may be provided by the use of commercial nickel. Specification 484,946 is referred to.
