Abstract

499,061. Balancing-apparatus. JONES, H. M. MACNAUGHTON-. April 22, 1938, No. 32082/37. [Class 78 (ii)] [Also in Group XIV] In adjustable counterbalanced supports for lamps, mirrors, &c. 20 of the kind comprising a parallelogram frame 11, 31 carried by a pivot 13 on a stand 10, the counterweight 16 carries means 23 for supporting auxiliary weights 22 at a point such that the lamp can be rebalanced by the addition or removal of weights whatever the position of the frame. The parallelogram frame is duplicated on each side of the stand and the pivot pin 13 is itself rotatable on a vertical pivot at the top of the stand. The lamp-carrying arms 15 are connected by a cross piece 17 to which is pivoted a U-shaped bracket 18 carrying bolts 19 on which the lampshade 20 is pivoted. The counterweight comprises a pair of metal blocks 16 from one of which projects a screw on which the auxiliary weights can be threaded and retained by a nut 23.
