Abstract

498,945. Television transmitters GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and ESPLEY, D. C. Nov. 15, 1937, No. 31332. [Class 40 (iii)] A film passes over a gate 2 illuminated by two optical systems 5, 5<1> each lighting one half only of the gate, so that the intensity over each half varies in the same way. Thus, when the film is moved uniformly and interlacedly scanned by a rotating disc, the adjacent lines are not scanned by light of markedly different intensity. A screen 6 provides for complete separation of illumination of the two halves. The two optical systems preferably use the same source 3 ; if one uses the image of the source, the other should comprise a filter to reduce the intensity of its emergent light to that of the other.
