498,935. Making tubes. DEMAG AKT.- GES. -Sept. 17, 1937, No. 25321. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1936. [Class 83 (iv)] Rolling cupping.-The mandrel shaft 3 or mandrel of a tube-making push bench is provided with transversely movable guides 4 disposed alternately on opposite sides of the push bench. The guides are mounted in holders 7 which can be pivoted up out of the way by means of a hydraulic cylinder 11-12 so that the mandrel and /or rod can be changed. The guides may be provided with magnets to carry the mandrel and /or its rod along with it. The guides are secured by splines fitting into grooves in their holders 7 so that they can be slid out by axial movement. The guides may be in the form of upper and lower halves. The rack 2 propels the mandrel forward.
