Abstract

498,615. Closures for bottles &c. YOUNG, S. D. Oct. 1, 1937, No. 26650. [Class 125 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] A cap or closure 1 having in its peripheral wall 4 a plurality of ears or lugs 8 adapted to be detached so as to enable the cap to be released from its securing head on the bottle, has the incisions which form the ears of such width that a space 9 is left by means of which removal of the ears is facilitated, the edges 10 on the cap adjacent the incisions being beaded, rounded, &c. in order to prevent injury to the fingers. The beading is conveniently formed by a thread-rolling operation, and thereafter the incisions are formed by pressing, the beads serving as locating guides. The rim 3 of the cap is knurled for the purpose of securing the sealing washer. Specification 492,304 is referred to.
