[Class 39 (i)] In an electric arc lamp for irradiation purposes in which the reflector casing a is provided with a protective grid or grating b, the latter moves independently of the electrode holder and its current-supplying members arranged stationarily in the reflector casing, and the supply circuit is broken or closed by opening or closing the grid or grating. The grid or grating may be hinged to the reflector casing and may carry a pin g adapted to engage the knob h of a switch mounted between the casing a and the reflector f.
