Convention date, May 10, 1937, [Class 146 (iii)] In a pencil holder having a number of screw-propelling lead holders each adjustable and adapted to be held in projected position, a single slot without any side recesses is provided in the casing for the adjustment of the lead holders, and a sleeve inserted in the casing serves as an abutment for the inner ends of the springs supporting the lead holders. The lead-holder springs 14 are guided by a shaped sleeve 20 inserted in the casing 1 and serving as a spare-lead receptacle, the sleeve being secured to an operating-head 24 rotatable on the end of the casing. The casing is provided with a slot 5 registering with a corresponding slot in two sleeves 6, 13 which are secured in place by a screw 9 serving also to retain the pocket-clip 7. The rear end of the sleeve 13 is formed with a number of teeth 26. The springs 14 are each provided with a head 4 adapted to pass through the slots in the sleeves 6, 13, and casing, and are formed with a bent portion 18 which, when the lead holders are in projected position, spring outwardly and engage under the end of the sleeve 13. When the lead holders are withdrawn, the head 24 can be rotated to enable a desired lead to be selected, the heads 4 snapping over the teeth 26 under the influence of a spring 27 on the end of the sleeve 20.
