Abstract
493,403. Pencil holders. RUF, C. E., and KIDAISCH, A., (trading as RUF, C. E., [Firm of]). Nov. 11, 1937, No. 30967. Convention date, March 18. [Class 146 (iii)] In a pencil holder of the kind having a number of lead carriers f movable into writing- position by means of knobs d sliding in slots in the outer casing a and adapted to be returned to normal position by springs p, a retaining-rest s is provided in the casing adapted to be engaged by notches m in the lead carriers and to be released therefrom by a sleeve q sliding in the casing. The lead carriers are each supported by a blade spring g formed with a head at the rear end provided with the notch m, a cam surface k, and a support n forthe spring p the other end of which bears on a guiding-bracket h for the springs g. The springs g tend to force the notches over the rest s when a carrier is moved to forward position, and a beard r on the inner end of the sleeve q cooperates with the cam surfaces k to release the holders. The sleeve q is normally held in its rearward position by the pressure of the springs p, and its movement is limited by a pin u. An additional spring serving to hold the sleeve q retracted may be provided.
