Abstract
497,049. Stereoscopic photography. KANOLT, C. W. June 14, 1937, No. 16460. Convention date, June 15, 1936. [Class 98 (ii)] Means for moving a camera about a fixed point for taking stereoscopic views comprises a camera support pivoted to a pair of spaced elements guided along separate paths in a base, at least one of the paths being fixed with respect to the base and the elements being moved along their paths at relatively different speeds. As shown in Figs. 1, 3, the camera 19 is carried on a plate 20 which is pivoted at 21 to a block 17 sliding in a groove 16 in a base 15, and which has a slot 22 engaged by a slider 23 on a block 18 guided in a second groove 16. The blocks are engaged by lead screws 24, 25 driven by a motor 26 through gearing 29, 30 so that the screw 25 rotates faster than the screw 24, the camera thus rotating about a fixed point 32 on which it is focused. The speed of movement may be varied, and the point 32 may be moved by changing the ratio of the speeds. A flexible shaft 35, driven from the gear train, moves the plates of the camera with respect to a lineated screen. In a modification, the plate 20 may be pivoted directly to the block 18 and the screw 25 driven through a flexible coupling, the guide 16 being dispensed with. In a further modification shown in Fig. 5, a lever 40, pivoted to a post 42, is connected by links 38, 39 to the blocks 17, 18, the block 18 being moved by a screw 25 driven through suitable gearing, and the links sliding on rollers 41. Alternatively, the links may be pivoted to the plate 20. In all modifications, castors may be provided to facilitate transport. Specifications 117,342, [Class 98 (ii)], 370,702, 375,496, and 437,519 are referred to.
