Abstract

496,261. Guides for window shutters and blinds. COVENTRY, T. M., and LIGHTNING FASTENERS, Ltd. July 19, 1937, No. 19993. [Class 20 (iii)] A flexible shutter, blind, or the like 1 is provided with a plurality of guide members 2 along one or each edge thereof, which engage within a box-like channel guide 4, the end of which is provided with a mouth 7 inwardly chamfered on its front and rear walls 8, 9, parallel with the shutter, and also on its divided side wall 10 through which the edge of the shutter extends, in order to prevent fouling of the guide members 2 during the movement of the shutter. As shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the chamfered side wall 10 is shorter than the walls 8, 9, terminating below the point at which the latter commence to flare. The portions of the walls 8, 9 immediately adjacent the chamfered portion are inclined to the main portion of the channel guide at an angle substantially equal to that assumed by the guiding members when the shutter is half wound on its roller. The mouth portion 7 may be integral with the main channel guide or may be formed in a separate member engaging with the end of the guide. Specification 335,311, [Class 20 (iii)], is referred to.
