Abstract

<PICT:0495656/III/1> Apparatus for recovering volatile solvents from air by passage through a solid adsorbent 2 is combined with a heat-exchanger, provided with a heating and cooling means 6, which serves to cool the solvent - laden air to be passed through the apparatus, to condense the mixture of solvent vapour and steam obtained on regeneration of the adsorbent, and to warm the gas passed through the regenerated adsorbent to dry it. The coil 6 is provided with two-way valves 7, 8 whereby it may be connected either to a steam circuit 12 or a cold water system 14. In the latter the flow of water may be controlled by a thermostat 15. A thermostat may also be fitted to the outlet for condensate 11 to control by a valve 9 the supply of regenerating steam to the carbon.
