Abstract

495,305. Cutting paper &c. webs. CHADWICK, C., and CHEETHAM, W. Feb. 9, 1937, No. 3780. [Class 31 (i)] [Also in Group XVII] A tubular web of transparent paper &c., formed about a former plate 25, is severed transversely at 36, 37 by means of stationary cutting blades 30, 31 mounted on the former plate, with which coact rotary blades 32. The ends 41 of the cuts 36, 37 are subsequently torn apart. The rotary blades 32 are of arched or flattened V-shape and are each formed from a thin flexible blade 42 mounted on a roller 34 being held against a shaped backing plate 43 thereon by a clamping plate 45 and screws 46. The fixed and rotary blades co-operate by a scissors-like action.
