Abstract
494,469. Centrifugal pumps. CANDY FILTER CO., Ltd., CANDY, F. P., and SIMMONS, C. E. G. June 25, 1937, No. 35716. Divided out of 477,520, [Group XXIX]. [Class 110 (i)] A centrifugal-pump impeller is closely surrounded by a shroud 4 provided with a plurality of apertures 5 registering with the corresponding apertures or passages 3 of the impeller when at rest, so as to minimize rotation of the fluid in the space 6 between the shroud 4 and the casing 2. The impeller shaft 9 has a hollow end with radial holes 10 leading to the interior of the impeller which is formed either from a solid disc with a number of radial channels or from two spaced discs completed by a perforated rim, radial arms being provided if desired within the central space.
