494,468. Photographic developing processes. SCHERING AKT.-GES. Dec. 21, 1937, No. 35430. Convention date, Dec. 21, 1936. [Class 98 (ii)] In the development of silver halide emulsions, a developing composition containing a halogen-substituted aminopyridine or a salt thereof is used to obtain blue-black tones. In a modification the emulsion may be treated with a solution of the halogen-substituted aminopyridine prior to development. Aminopyridines referred to are 5-iodo-2-aminopyridine, 5 - bromo - 2 - aminopyridine, 5 - chloro- 2 - aminopyridine, 5 - chloro - 2- acetylaminopyridine, 3: 5 - dichloro - 2 - aminopyridine and 3:5 - dibromo - 2 - aminopyridine. The use of 2 : 4 : 6 - trimethylpyridine is also referred to. Examples of suitable developing compositions are given.
