Abstract

493,977. Machine guns. SOC. ANON. DES ANCIENS ETABLISSEMENTS HOTCHKISS & CIE. Oct. 7, 1937, No. 27222. Convention date, May 5. [Class 92 (ii)] A firing mechanism for multiple machine guns permitting of simultaneous or selective fire comprises a transverse rod 28 axially movable by a handle 29 to bring keys 40 into and out of engagement with key ways in the hubs of firing levers 38 bearing on the pivoted gun triggers 41, the rod 28 being rotatable as by a pedal to effect firing. The invention is shown applied to the triggers 41 of two guns, each trigger actuating a gun sear 26, Fig. 2. By moving the handle 29 above its pivot 30 to the position G, the lefthand gun fires when the rod 28 is rotated. In the intermediate position G, D, both guns fire, and, in the position D, the right-hand gun only fires. The parts may be arranged so that the guns fire alternately the handle 29 being set to position G for firing the left-hand gun, the runout movement of which is used to fire the righthand gun through a projection 47 on a rotary sleeve 46. The sleeve carries on an arm 43 a roller 45 which can be adjusted to a position beneath the right-hand trigger 41 when alternate firing is desired. The triggers may be locked by a safety detent 27.
