Abstract
493,802. Brush stocks. SWALLOW, N. A. July 7, 1937, No. 18831. [Class 19] A hand brush 1 has a renewable end section 3 butt-jointed thereto by means of a spigot 5 secured in holes in the two parts by screws 6, 7, or by a clip 8, Fig. 2, extending over the joint 4 and clamped by a bolt 10 with additional fastening means such as screws or nails passing through holes in the clip or lips or teeth at the edges of the clip to engage grooves in or to bite into the brush parts, whilst in a modification, Fig. 6, the clip is secured by means of a loop 14 and lever 17 with cam-shaped ends 16 pivoted on the ends of the loop and working against curved shoulders 15 at one end of the clip. In another modification, Fig. 7, the end section 3 has spikes 18 to be driven into the end of the brush stock and a wire fastening 19 with inturned ends 20 adapted to be forced into the sides of the brush stock. Fig. 8 shows another modification wherein the joint 4 is made by spikes 18 and spiked plates 21.
