Abstract
493,795. Endless-band conveyers. SMITH, A. R. June 4, 1937, No. 15511. [Class 78 (i)] A machine for filling cartons, bottles, or other rigid receptacles c of uniform shape and size comprises an endless-belt delivering conveyer e and a parallel endless-belt receiving conveyer h spaced apart by a platform b on which the receptacles rest, during transfer, for filling purposes. The receptacles c are placed by hand on the conveyer e and are brought up into contact at the operating end by an adjustable stop f, so that two or more of the containers are registered opposite automatically operated pushers g and also at positions adjacent two or more supply nozzles a. The pushers g are reciprocated by cam-actuated pivoted levers k driven from the conveyer operating shaft, and act on the filled containers, to pass them on to the conveyer h, through the medium of the container which is being forced on to the platform b. The -conveyer e may move continuously or intermittently, and on retraction of the pusher, the gap in the row of containers is at once filled in. Fixed or adjustable retaining walls i may be provided to keep the containers in line.
