493,282. Pivots. BLANK, A. March 4, 1937, No. 6501. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1936. [Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group XIV] Pivoting adjustments.-In an adjustable folding chair, the members are pivoted together and are retained in adjusted position by means of a locking device at one of the pivots. One form of locking device comprises a plate 21, Fig. 7, of which the lower part forms a cage for a ring of balls 24, secured to the arm-rest 8 of the chair, and two plates, or a U-shaped element 23, having recesses in which the balls engage, secured to the leg 3. The two parts of the element 23 are drawn together by a bolt and nut to lock the joint in adjusted position. In another form of locking pivot, two discs with flanged edges formed with teeth and attached one to each of the pivoting members, are drawn together by a bolt and nut.
