Abstract

492,810. Moulding concrete walls in situ. ROBSON, M. March 31, 1937, No. 9207. [Class 20 (ii)] Concrete walls are cast in situ between shutters which are positioned by means of flat cross-ties j, pivoted to vertical metal strips a which are secured to anchor plates b disposed at the centre of a concrete footing c. The vertical metal strips are further positioned at their upper ends by pins h resting on divided spacers g, which embrace by their ends horizontal supports f for the vertical shutter supports e. The ties are provided with staggered projections j<2>, against which the supports e abut, and also with end perforations j<3> to receive wedges for securing plates m, which are adapted to press against the horizontal battens d<1> which tie the vertical shuttering boards d together. After casting, the ends of the cross ties are twisted off and the ties and vertical strips constitute the wall reinforcement. Further horizontal reinforcing rods p may be supported by the vertical strips. For casting hollow walls, the cross-ties are provided with further staggered projections against which the inner core shutters are pressed by removable internal wooden uprights.
