This invention relates to molding apparatus and more particularly to footing or foundation forms for buildings. This footing form in accord ance with the present invention is especially adapted for use in connection with the wall forms for which I have Patent 2,43l,708 which was issued to me January '20, 1948, but of course may be used independently-of same.
An object of my invention is to provide a foundation or footing-form to which the wall forms may be attached directly in order that the wall formingniaterials maybe formed or placed immediately after placing of the footing or foundation-materials instead of the necessity of waiting for footing to hardenin order to remove footing forms.
Another object is to provide such a footing form that will be especially easy to level, also rigid enough to beself bracing andnot require alot of temporary wooden stakes and braces or other forms of supports and the like which are likely to be knocked out of line by workmen.
Another object is to provide a footing or foundation form tha-t'may be used over and over again a great many times in any numberof buildings of diiierent sizes, as the'form parts .may be made up in a number of lengths or sizes so that a selection may be made of sizes to suit each particular job.

Further objects and advantages-of my invention will appear in the following-specification, -reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming a part thereof and illustrating a highly satisfactory embodiment of my invention.

In general the molding apparatus inaccordance with my invention comprises sectional panelsv par-'- ticularly adapted to beset up for concrete con struction in buildings and the like, of thegeneral type disclosed in my Patent 2,434,708'abovereferred to. The present invention relates toirn-v provements in the sectional panel constructions for the walls and particularly the sections for forming the footings or foundations so that the same may be cast integrally with the wall-construction and removedbefore the wall panels are taken down, as shown in Fig. 5 of the drawings. As best shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3 the molding panels include footing panels M, upon which. are connecting link panels I5 between the footing panels and regular wall panels It there above with upright panel connecting channel sections I1 between ends of wall panel [6, panels Iii-and I! being of the type disclosed in my- Patent 2,484,708, with improved features aswill be set forth. These elementsmay be made of any suit able material preferably of metal such as steel of suflicient strength for the purpose and for wearing qualities. They may be bent or stamped to the required shape or may be built up of angles and/or strips of metal, ineither case they should 3 be braced or strengthened in any suitable manner to give the required strength.
Footing panels I4 consist of channel formations with wide upper and lower horizontal flange elements I8 and I9 respectively each having bolt receiving apertures adjacent their ends for connecting bars and angle members 2I secured to the respective flanges by bolts 22 so that these elements overlie the joints to strengthen them so they will not sa or bend out of a straight line. Bar 20 is employed under upper flange I8 so as not to interfere with the bolting of connecting link panels I5 thereto, the flange being provided with a series of slots 23 (the same as slots 24 in the top flange 25 of panel I5 as shown in Fig. 2), for receiving connecting bolts 26 for the purpose of connecting panels I5 to footing panels I4,

Footing panels I4 may be used in pairs, an inside and outside piece of the same length in a straight section of foundation and wall construction, or any required lengths, overlapping with respect to each other ties I2 comprising pipe sections or tubular elements of the required length a.

Footing panels I4 are adapted for use in a single height, as shown, or two or more, one secured upon another for an increased height of the foot ing as may be desired in some instances or where it may be desired to increase the height in certain places.
As shown in Fig. 4 corresponding inside and outside angle forms I4 and I4 may be employed at corners of the building, being held by the ties I2 and secured to regular straight footing forms I4 of the desired length at the ends thereof. Also inside wall footings are formed by similar pairs of angle form elements I4, the required spacing being had with ties I2. Connecting link panels I5 are similar in some respects to footing panel I4 having an upper flange 25 with its slots 24 similar to upper flange I8 of footing panel I4 but the bottom flange 29 is much wider so as to contract the space between the inner and outer panels to form the wall II of the proper thickness. Thus the bottom flange 29 provides the top facing for the footing offset and the vertical panel portion provides for wall facing which is continued by the regular wall panels It extendin upwardly therefrom. These connecting link panels include inside (not shown) and outside corner members I5 so as to correspond with the footing panel corner members but not necessarily of the same length. Preferably they are of different lengths so that the joints will not come directly over joints of the footing panel sections. As previously pointed out connecting link panels I5 are secured to footing panels I4 by means of bolts 26. Inverted U-shaped apertured metal members 30 are secured over apertures in the flange 29 in the form of pockets through which bolts 26 extend providing guides for the bolts and retainers for them when the panel members are disassembled an upper nut SI remaining on the bolt though adjustably as keeper and a lower nut 32 being placed thereon to grip the panel flanges between the two nuts.
Connecting link panels I5 have end flanges 33 adapted to be secured in endwise abutting relationship by means of bolts 34. Inner flanges are provided adjacent to end flanges and pro vide pockets for bolts 34 for guiding and retaining them in the same manner as pocket menibers 30 on the bottom flange 29 so that bolts 34 are always carried by the panel in the same manner as bolts 26 are retained by pocket members 30. Flanges 35 are apertured so as to position the bolts to pass through slots 36 in the end flanges 33 as shown.
Above connecting link panels I5 (and I5 the wall mold is continued upwardly with regular wall panels I6 with the upright channel sections II between the ends thereof as a connecting link between them as generally set forth in my Patent 2,434,708. The longitudinal series of slots 24 in the upper flanges 25 of panels I5 provide for lengthwise adjustably bolting the sections I6 and I! thereto by means of bolts 26 in pockets 3n the same as those mounted on flanges 29 of panels I5 and by the modified pocket formations 31 in the bottoms of channel sections IT with bolts 38 which function in the same manner. Wall panels I6 have upper flanges 39 with slots 49 therein corresponding with slots 24 in flanges 25 of panels I 5. Likewise the ends of panels I5 have parallel spaced flanges M and 42 similar to flanges 33 and 35 of panels I5 but provided with aligned apertures 43 for holding and guiding bolts 44 through slots 45 in side walls or flanges 46 of the upright channel sections I'I.
Upright channel sections I! may be any height desired or formed in standard heights, the same as the panels I5 and I6 may be made in different sizes, lengths, etc. The side flanges 46 are formed considerably wider than flanges 39, M and 42 of panels I6 so as to project outwardly therefrom and their extending portion 4! as best shown at the left-hand end of Fig. 1 is provided with a series of spaced apertures 48 adapting this channel section for the attachment of scaffolding or the like thereto as may be desired in the process of construction work. For such purpose, it is not essential to remove channel sections II, or all of them at once when the other forms are taken down. Channels II have series of spaced horizontal webs 49 which not only function as reinforcing members but may be used as ladder steps.
Channel sections II are provided with apertures at regular spacing for ties I3 similar to ties I2 but of the proper length for spacing the front and back wall forms for the required wall thickness. These ties are held in place by removable bolts 50 in the same manner in which bolts 2! hold footing panels I4. In this manner the channel sections and wall panels are held in position for the required strength for the mold. Connecting link panels can be held at the proper spacing in width by a bar or other temporary means until the upright panel sections I! are set up at the proper locations thereon.
In erecting the forms for construction of concrete building walls, the footing forms I4 are first assembled, after the ground has been graded to the proper level, beginning at any corner of the proposed building set up a corner as at A, Figs. 1 and 4, then proceed to add other sections I4 according to building plans until the entire footing form is complete. When the footing forms are checked for level, blocked up if required, they may then be filled with footing materials level with top thereof, or if preferred upper forms I5 and possibly some of the It forms may be secured in place before pouring the concrete in the forms. panels I5 are attached to footing forms I4 and The connecting link wall panels [6 with upright sections and secured to panels I5 starting at a corner and continued over the footing. It is to be understood that the foregoing illustrations and detailed description of buildings, and apparatus used in forming the same are merely by way of example; that changes in details, proportions and arrangement of parts of the apparatus may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit of the invention; that the apparatus may be used to produce many sizes and types of buildings, requiring mainly the services of competent architects, builders or engineers to determine, without an exercise of through in alignment with the aperture in the,
flange thereby providing a bolt retainer and guide element, a bolt extending through the apertures in said wall and flange, a nut on said bolt between the wall and flange, and a nut for the projecting end of said bolt beyond the flange, said first nut operating to retain the bolt from removal from said wall and flange of the panel and cooperating with the second nut to clamp the flange of another panel member thereto.
2. Connecting means for molding panels and the like including a rectangular panel structure with peripheral flanges, along its end and side edges, said connecting means including spaced wall formations parallel to several of the side and end flange formations, said walls and the flanges having aligned bolt receiving apertures therethrough, a securing bolt extending through each set of said aligned apertures through the flanges and walls, a nut on each of said bolts in each of the spaces between the flanges and walls, each of the panel flanges also having suitable openings therethrough through which projecting ends of bolts carried by the flanges and walls of adjacent panels may extend, and a nut for the end of each of the bolts extending through openings in adjacent panel flanges cooperating with the first said nuts for clamping egagement with panel flanges between corresponding pairs of nuts.
