[Class 81 (i)] In a container for deodorants and the like, comprising a base securable to a supporting surface and a detachable perforated or openwork closure member, the base has a catch which is concealed b the closure member and which, in the act of applying the latter to the base, is caused to engage the wall of, and retain, the closure member, the catch being thereafter disengageable only by the insertion of a tool through an aperture in the closure member not distinguishable from neighbouring apertures. As shown the base a comprises a plate, securable to a wall by screws a<3>, and having on its lower and two side edges, bent-over flanges a<1>, a<2>, forming a slide-wav for the insertion of a deodorantcontaining cover c comprising a frame with flanged sides and bottom c<1>, c<2> a perforated front and an open back. On sliding in the cover a leaf spring catch b on the base is depressed by the lower edge c<2> and engages behind it to prevent removal. To release the catch a rod is inserted through a hole c<5> in the cover which is indistinguishable from adjacent holes. The lower edge c<2> of the cover, and its flange, are recessed as at c<3> to receive the spring b. Brackets or the like may be provided in the cover, to hold the deodorant away from the lower end. The container may be of diamond, triangular, or semicircular shape the catch being arranged to operate substantially when the cover is fully inserted into the base. The spring b may be replaced by a spring-operated or weight-operated pawl. Specification 407,046 is referred to. The Provisional Specification describes a circular or polygonal container having a cover receivable within a flange or rib on the base and lockable thereto by two or more radial plungers operated by a spring or by hand ; in the case of two plungers they may be connected by a central spring- held link or lever and may be bevel-nosed. This Provisional Specification also refers to containers provided with catches adapted to engage lugs on hinged or flanged cover plates.
