Abstract

491,603. Generating high - frequency oscillations. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. (Siemens & Halske Akt.-Ges.) March 12, 1937, No. 7315. Drawings to Specification. [Class 40 (v)] A hot conductor having a high temperature coefficient is operated, for the purpose of producing electric oscillations, at a mean current such that its A.C. resistance tends to a negative real value at zero frequency. The hot conductor is connected in parallel with an inductance or with a condenser according as its temperature coefficient is positive or negative, Figs. 6, 7 (not shown), or two hot conductors having coefficients of opposite sign may be connected in parallel, Fig. 5 (not shown). The oscillator is tuned by adjusting the mean or D.C. component of the current by means of a potentiometer, Fig. 8 (not shown). Additional passive impedance elements or a current-limiting device, Figs. 9, 10 (not shown), may be added to the circuit. Uranium dioxide may be used as a negative hot conductor, and an ironhydrogen resistance as a positive hot conductor.
