Abstract

490,653. Shaft couplings. KNIGHT, N. M. April 8, 1938, No. 10827. [Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Group I] In a pulp-screening machine comprising vertically-reciprocating pulp-pulsating plates and a rotary screen-cleaning device the plates and the device are operated, respectively, by shafts 29a, 29b. The shaft 29a which is adapted to be rotated by an electric motor, and the shaft 29b are provided with eccentric portions 66 upon which is mounted a sleeve 65 formed with eccentrics 28. The shafts 29a, 29b are coupled together by a member 67 co-operating with a clamping bolt 69, which acts to clamp the sleeve 65 between flanges 68 formed on the shafts. On loosening the bolt 69 the eccentrics 28, 66 can be adjusted to change the amplitude of vibration of the pulsating plates.
