[Class 59] The connecting-rod operating the crushing jaws described in the parent Specification is provided with crank bearings which are slidably mounted in guides and are pressed onto the crank-pin by a spring housed in the rod whereby when the lower secondary zone becomes choked the bearings move against the spring action to allow the crank to pass over the bottom dead centre. As shown, the crank-pin d is connected to a block e slidable in guides f in a bifurcated connecting-rod a and actuates the jaws o, p through spring c, lever u and links s, t. A rubber buffer may be placed under the bridge piece i to absorb rebound of the block. The spring may comprise a rubber block and the spring or springs may be placed above the block and the springs may act in tension.
