[Classes 18 and 94 (i)] A packaging and displa,y container of the type formed by joining two ends of a flexible strip is characterized in that the strip is bendable transversely of its length into sections to form body sides 4, intermediate blunt corner sections 5 and article-retaining flaps 8, 15 extending laterally from at least one (as shown, two) of the longitudinal edges of the strip, the flaps being so narrow that they do not extend over the central portion of the container. As shown, the flaps 8 are made flexible by score lines, the flaps 15 are divided by score lines 17 into a bevel section 18 and a retaining section 19, corner flaps 35 and tongue-and-slot connections 30, 22, for the flaps 15 are provided, the strip ends are joined by tongue-and-slot means 47, 45, the slit ends of a member 52 are inserted into slots 56 to form a handle, and an elastic band encircles the whole. In other constructions (not shown), (a) flexible flaps 8 are disposed on both sides of the strip, (b) a container in which the flaps have windows (open or covered with transparent sheet material), is provided with a separate facing member on each side, one of the members also having open or covered windows. In Fig. 16, the flaps are broad enough to interlock; smaller similar boxes are shown packed.
