This invention relates to a box made of double faced corrugated strawboard, the general object of the invention being to use less material in the constructio-n of a box 6 on most sizes than at present used in the construction of corrugated boxes known commercially as slotted cartons and to provide means for connecting together the side Y walls and top and bottom of a box.
This invention also consists in certain other featuresV of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing myY invention in detail reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure l is a view of the blank from which the sides and ends of the box are formed.
Figure 2 is a view of one of the pads for formingthe top or bottom of the box.
Figure 3 is a plan view of the complete box with the top pad partly connected with the body thereof.

Figure l0 shows a modification where the 45 strip is formed with the blank.
The sidesl and the ends 2 are formed of a single blank A of corrugated board. The facing sheets are extended beyond the corrugated core to form flaps 3. The facing 50 sheets are mitered to provide beveled ends for the flaps and the sheet is creased, as at 4, to form the sides and ends, the crease extending from the point of each miter at one end of the sheet to the point of the corresponding miter at the opposite end thereof. The abutting ends of the sheet are connected together by a strip 5 or in any desired manner so as to produce a rectangular body. Pads 6 of double faced corrugated board are used to form the top and bottom of the box being glued or otherwise fastened to the flaps 3 at the top and bottom of the body. The pads are fastened between the iiaps at the top and bottom of the body, one flap of each pair being fastened to the inner face of the pad while the other flaps are fastened to the outer face as shown in Fig. 4, or the two flaps of each wall are fastened together and then fastened to the pad. Figure 5 shows the two flaps connected with the upper face of the pad, while Figure 6 shows two flaps connected to the under face of the pad. The parts may be fastened together by adhesive material or they may be stitched together or fastened together in any other suitable manner. Figure 7 shows the parts connected together by stitching, while Figure 8 shows the parts connected together by the fasteners 7. It will be seen that the box is composed of three pieces, the body and the top and the bottom, the body being composed of a mitered double faced corrugated sheet with the corrugated core of the height of the box with the facing extending beyond the core so that they form yflaps for engaging the top and bottom pieces. By this invention the box is sealed so that the parts must be cut in order to reach the contents thereof.
In Figure l() the flap 5 is formed by a continuation of the outer face of the sheet l instead of being a separate sheet, as shown in the first form of the invention.
What I claim is A box comprising a bodyy formed of a double faced corrugated sheet creased to form the side and end wall sections, the abutting ends of the sheet being fastened together, the facing sheets extending beyond the corrugated core to form a pair of flaps at each end of each section and top and bottom pieces formed of corrugated sheets fastened to the flaps.
