Abstract
488,674. Screw conveyers. DEAN, H. June 23, 1937, No. 17503. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group V] A safety device for supplying clay to a worm &c. conveyer comprises a. casing 1, secured above the feed hole 2 of the conveyer, and having an opening 4 in one side through which clay is introduced, and a piston 9 adapted to be reciprocated in the casing 1 and provided with a rearwardly extending wall 15 which closes the opening 4 when the piston reaches its lowest point. The conveyer preferably comprises a plurality of blades or knives mounted on a shaft. A shoot 5 is secured to the opening 4. The piston 9 is connected by a rod 8 to a hand lever 10 pivoted on a link 13 and provided with a counterweight 12. The clay fed on to the shoot 5 is forced into the conveyer by the piston 9.
